Our Church Covenant

Trusting that God has brought us to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ, and having been buried with him in baptism, we submit ourselves to the Lord in this local church body, and in the presence of God we make these covenant promises to each other.

Trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit…

We will walk together in brotherly love, as Christ has loved us. (John 13:34–35; Eph. 4:2; 5:2)

We will work to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Eph. 4:3; Phil. 1:27; 2:2)

We will watch over each other, faithfully encouraging, warning, rebuking, and instructing one another as the occasion requires. (2 Tim 2:15; 1 Cor. 5:1–2; Heb. 3:12–14)

We will meet together each Lord’s Day for worship and edification. (Heb. 10:24–25; Acts 20:7; Rev. 1:10; 1 Cor. 11:23–26; James 5:16; Eph. 6:18; Jude 20)

We will faithfully pray with and for one another. (James 5:16; Eph. 6:18; Jude 20)

We will rejoice in each other’s joys and bear each other’s burdens. (Rom. 12:15; Gal. 6:2; James 2:14–17)

We will seek to bring up those under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and to seek the salvation of our family, friends, and neighbors. (Titus 2:1–6; Deut. 6:4–7; Eph. 6:4)

We will work together to uphold the pure preaching of the word, the right administration of the ordinances, and the biblical practice of church discipline. (Matt. 18:15–20; 28:18–20; Gal. 1:6–9; 1 Cor. 5:1–13, 11:17–34)

We will cheerfully give to the ministry of the church, the needs of the poor, and the spread of the gospel around the world. (1 Cor. 9:6–14; Gal. 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:17; Phil. 4:14–19; 2 Cor. 8–9; Rom. 15:27; 1 John 3:16; James 2:14–17)

We will walk properly before outsiders, remembering that God has called us to shine as lights in the world. (1 Thess. 4:12; 1 Pet. 2:9–12; Col. 4:5; Matt. 5:13–14; Titus 2:12; Phil. 2:15)

We will endeavor to be zealous for good works, that we might adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. (Titus 1:10, 2:14, 3:8, 14)

If we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant.

To these and all other gospel duties we humbly submit and purpose to perform, not in our own strength, but in the strength of our God, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
